Fun Fact Friday
Gluten sensitivity is gaining more attention in the media.
Is it worth the hype? I think so.
I heard somewhere (I believe it was a podcast by Robb Wolf) that gluten affects over 40 opiate receptors throughout the brain. Breads, pastas, oats, “whole grains”, pretzels, pizza– are a few products containing gluten. Considering the fact that numerous studies have shown gluten to have similar withdrawal symptoms as those suffering from opiate drug addiction (think: heroin and morphine), I believe it’s important to take a look at our own dietary reactions to the things the common western diets tell us to eat most.
I guess I’ll be my own test dummy and see if any of the common symptoms develop.
Brain fog. Sleepiness. Increased agitation. Nausea. Headaches. I’m ready for you.
